Elsewhere in the blogosphere The Tuscan has been asked what he expected the perfect woman to look like. The answer is simple - Madeline Smith.
Sussex girl, naturally.
Sussex girl, naturally.
I shall not spend my days trying to prolong them - I shall use my time.

Ding, and indeed Dong! You are a man of impeccable taste, Tuscan.
Don't forget, I saw her first, d'ye hear!?!?!?
I thought this item would be under your full shirt heading TT.
Nice one.
45 thanks, error noted, labels corrected.
This gal does it for me. Kerry Condon from the recent BBC/HBO series Rome.

It's not the way she looks but the way she moves.
Ek thanks for the link, I've yet to see "Rome" but will be doing so shortly - will keep an eye out.
I fear that Madeleine's charms were rather lost on old Alec, Tuscan.
Despite the lobster and chateaubriand on show before him in your piccy, Guinness preferred the cheese sarnie and toffee apple charms of the cockney bootboy.
Idle, by bizarre coincidence (and as you prob know) th old buster pegged out less than a mile from Tuscan Towers in Henley Common, at KE7.
Are you suggesting that Mr Guinness was an exponent of the pink oboe?
I fear Idle is right, came as a shock, a la Dirk Bogarde in my youth.
Did you see that lovely film with Guinness, Lauren Bacall, and Leo McKinstry about the Normandy veterans on a reunion visit? "A Foreign Field", 1993. Highly recommend it, in fact I must see if it's available on CD.
Leo McKinstry, eh, 45? Damn fine actor.
As for that Leo McKern, who used to be a lefty politico, he's writing more and more sense in the Speccy and the Torygraph nowadays.
Tuscan, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Guinness blew the pink oboe like a veritable Benny Goodman.
45 - not seen it, will look into it. I have Bridge On the River Kwai tonight, boys currently obsessing with war fillums. Bettr'n Poirates on a loop, thankfully.
idle - *crushed*. During the First Wifey Clearout over a decade ago now, I bought the then Mrs Sussex a place near him, and always wanted to drop by and shake his hand. Now thanks to you I know he that the instant he would have spotted me he would have instantly dropped a cake of soap to the ground for me to stoop to and retrieve - delighted that the encounter never 'appened.
Idle - mea culpa, I realised as soon as I read your post that it was indeed Leo McKern of the Lloyds ads, not McKinstry. But he was very good in it, and I am pleased to see Amazon have it.
The boys will enjoy the Kwai pic TT, and probably shout at the Guinness character as we all did!. I recall being horrified with the leeches scen, which really wouldn't bother me now - leeches themselves I mean.
Alec Guinness was arrested for cottaging (at a time when homosexual acts were punishable by time inside.)
He stayed out of jail by agreeing to grass up other homosexuals to the police...and then got married and had children.
45, thanks for the leech-tip, I will ensure the Tuscana is not present for the showing.
anon - he sounds a thoroughly charming chap - Labour donor too, I shouldn't wonder.
In this case, Tuscan, Guinness isn't good for you.
The Jack Hawkins injured foot scene has always been one of my favourite ham acting scenes, Tuscan. I wonder what your scamps will make of it.
Madness...... MADNESS!
Idle I will look out for it.
You have something to really look forward to with Rome. Fantastic series.
EK, I am SO with you re - Kerry Condon... woof woof!
