Huntington Hartford (who croaked Monday) inherited USD 90,000,000 from daddy in the form of stock in the family business in at the tender age of 12 ; and immediately went to work investing the whole lot on loose women, hard drugs, and spits of sand; the rest, as they say, he probably wasted.
You, sir, are the Tuscan's Wednesday hero. RIP.
Note: The Tuscan knows we're all busy people but he guarantees the 5 minutes spent reading the Telegraph obit will not be thought of as wasted; or your money back.

What a dude! Imagine living like that and getting to 97! And what a life! Doesn't sound like he was loved much though does it :-( Nice to hear that his daughter rescued him in the end.
The man gave a whole new dimension to "worthless" and "useless." Evidently he never recovered from being taunted for coming from new money when he was at prep school.
Gin sodden older man in the company of a much younger and very attractive woman?
Like the Tuscan Roue',
The Beast understands only too well.

We'll probably ditch The Telegraph subscription soon - too much hassle for too much dead wood; the internet is much cheaper... but; this obit is marvellous!
Mrs S will not approve, but there again she might...
Lilith he had one good one, about a 25% hit rate (of the ones he knew of) I reckon.
Anon - if he was alive today he'd be getting a call from Gordon brown this evening "fancy a job in gummmint?"
Beast - got it in one.
Scrobs - my fave anecdote was his 20 year old wife bringing round her twentysomething mates to live with him (excellent!), and they obviously getting upset with his teeny "secretary" at some point, waylaying her, and shaving her head! Just another day at the Towers for Tuscan "Hefner" Tony, as you can imagine.
LMFAO @ 'new money'.
By English standards all rich Americans are 'new money'. As someone who has, historically, almost always been 'dirt poor' and occasionally as wealthy as 'as poor as a church mouse', I'd like a bit of new money, even if it is new by American standards.
Sounds as though he did with money what should be done with money. Good on him and thanks for the link TT.
Hmm... bit of a wasted life, but was still an interesting line of failures. Your featured obits are always worth reading, Tony :-)
